Having toured in France and mainland Europe for more than 5 years (hosting over 300 gigs!), the 6 musicians from the south west of France that form “The Banyans” have steadily been gathering an eager crowd.
Enriched and enthused by their experiences and encounters on tour, the band will be launching their debut album. The album is clearly influenced by the godfathers of Jamaican Reggae roots (Gladiators, Burning Spears, Bob Marley, etc) resonating not only with music lovers of this genre but equally with amateurs and those of blues, soul and jazz. A true revelation!
Since their creation in 2008, The Banyans have successfully held over 300 concerts in the whole of France, and their lyrics in English have opened the doors to several other countries in Europe including Belgium, Italy and Spain.
In 2011, The Banyans toured as opening acts to prestigious bands of the likes of Groundation, Israel Vibration, Aswad, The Wailers, Antony B, U-Roy, Clinton Fearon, etc.
During this year a budding collaboration with the Jamaican artist Ras Daniel Ray flourished into a joint-tour in France, stepping up the band’s professionalism.
And in October 2011, The Banyans appeared on the compilation album << French Reggae Revolution>> with Soulbeats Records label (Action Music CD label) alongside Sinsemilia, Danakil, etc.
2012 marks an important step in their career with the debuting album and several new collaborations with established artists in the international reggae scene.
Lined up with exciting new projects and with even more concerts scheduled every year, The Banyans are rapidly becoming a top leading band in the French and European Reggae scene.
Parcourant la France et l’Europe depuis bientôt 6 ans (plus de 300 concerts!) les 6 toulousains du groupe The Banyans se sont constitués un public de plus en plus large.
Forts de leurs expériences et de leurs rencontres, ils ont sorti en février 2013 leur premier album « Steppin Forward ». Un opus influencé par les ténors du reggae-roots jamaïcain (Gladiators, Burning Spear, Bob Marley, etc.) qui fait vibrer les passionnés du genre autant que les amateurs de blues, soul et jazz. Une authentique révélation !
Depuis leur formation, le groupe a effectué plus de 300 concerts dont de prestigieuses premières parties : Groundation, Alborosie, Israel Vibration, Aswad, The Wailers, Anthony B, U-Roy, Clinton Fearon, et bien d’autres acteurs incontournables de la scène internationale qui ont su voir chez The Banyans l’étoffe d’un futur grand groupe de Reggae Roots.
Les textes chantés en anglais, leurs ont ouvert les portes de l’Europe et le groupe compte à son actif plusieurs tournées en Italie et Europe de l’Est.
2013 marque un temps fort du groupe avec la sortie de leur 1er album en février. Plus de 80 concerts dans toute l’Europe, dont des tournées aux côtés d’Horace Andy, Johnny Clarke ou encore Johnny Osbourne.
Le groupe termine l’année en beauté en donnant un concert inoubliable au Zénith de Paris en 1ère partie d’Alborosie, confirmant ainsi leur ascension et leur professionnalisme.
Avec une actualité débordante et toujours plus de concerts programmés chaque année, les Banyans sont aujourd’hui un groupe incontournable de la scène Reggae actuelle !.
